New Hope Baptist Church

Doctrinal Statement

Self-Existing God

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Lord Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. (Genesis. 1:1; John 1:1-3; I John 5:7; Ephesians 4:4-6)

Sinless Saviour

We believe that Jesus Christ is very God, manifest in the flesh, having been born of a virgin.  We believe in His sinless life.  We believe in His shed blood as the only atonement for sin, His bodily resurrection for our justification, and His ascension into Heaven there to be our only mediator and perpetual intercessor before the throne of God. (John 1:1,14; Luke 1:26-31; I John 3:5; I Peter 1:18-19; Romans 4:24-25; Luke 24:51; I Timothy 2:4; Hebrews 7:25)

Scripture of Truth

We believe in the Bible as found in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, to be both verbally inspired and providentially preserved, and represented authoritatively in our Authorized Version of 1611 (commonly known as the King James Bible). (II Timothy 3:14-17; Psalms 12:6-7; Proverbs 30:5-6)

Second Coming

We believe in the visible, personal, imminent, pre-millennial and pre-tribulation return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 1:7; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; John 14:2-3; Revelation 20:1-6; II Thessalonians 2:6-8; I Thessalonians 1:10)

Salvation by Grace

We believe salvation of man is by grace alone.  The conditions for salvation are repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Luke 24:45-47; Acts 20:20-21, Acts 16:30-31; Romans 10:8-13)

Soul’s Eternity

We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost in a literal lake of fire. (John 3:16; John 5:24; I Thessalonians 4:17; Luke 16:19-31; Revelation 20:14-15)

Saved Assembly

We believe a New Testament church to be an independent, organized body of born again, baptized believers, practicing Scriptural Ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission – to win the lost to Jesus Christ. (Matthew 16:18; Colossians 1:24; I Timothy 3:15; John 3:3; I Corinthians 12:13; Colossians 2:12; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15)

Scriptural Ordinances

We believe the Scriptural Ordinances given to the local church are: Baptism of believers by immersion, as demonstration and public testimony of our new life in Christ, and the Lord’s Supper, to be partaken of by solemn, self-examined Christians in a fellowship commemoration of Christ’s death for our sins. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 10:48; Romans 6:3-6; Matthew 26:26-30; I Corinthians 11:1-2, 23-24)

This list of doctrinal beliefs is not exhaustive. The King James Bible is our final authority in all matters and is therefore the only source in determining sound doctrine.
